Winter "Into Darkness/Eternal Frost"

Winter is an American extreme metal band from New York. They take their name from the Amebix song of the same name. The band performed at the 2011 Roadburn Festival in the Netherlands.

Into Darkness is the first and only full-length album of American doom metal band Winter. The album was released in 1990 by Future Shock Records. It was later re-issued by Nuclear Blast as a digipak with an altered front cover and the Eternal Frost EP as bonus tracks. The album was re-released again, with no bonus tracks, by Southern Lord on April 12, 2011, on black and white vinyl as a gate fold LP with booklet.

July 8, 2013: The Village Voice blogger Jason Roche lists Into Darkness as #14 in the top 20 hardcore & metal albums to come out of NYC.

Decibel magazine rankt the album at #13 in ther Top 100 Doom Metal Albums of All Time Special Issue.

Virgin Black "Requiem - Fortissimo"

Requiem – Fortissimo is the third part of Virgin Black's Requiem album trilogy and its second installment since Requiem - Mezzo Forte. The album was released on February 19, 2008. The music on this album is in a death/doom style reminiscent of early 1990s British groups like My Dying Bride and Paradise Lost. Metal Storm voted Requiem - Fortissimo as The Best Doom Metal Album of 2008.

Vocalist-keyboardist Rowan London has stated about the album:

“ I should feel a sense of dread offering up something so atypical for us to be interrogated and scrutinized. But the fearlessness that we inhabited while writing Fortissimo and the Requiem series survives to see its unveiling. An album not so much about death as the absence of life; it's damn heavy but its countenance is far more brutal than its sound could ever be. Long live the "death choir". ”

Vintersemestre "Jääverisaatana"

Vintersemestre was a Finnish Black Metal band, Jääverisaatana was their first EP, released in 1995. Jääverisaatana means "Icebloodsatan".

Not sure if it's only the promo, but "The Wisdom of Usuluh (Veri)" appears to consist of only a few seconds of chimes tolling.

Vinterland "Welcome My Last Chapter"

Vinterland is a Swedish Black Metal band.

Vinterland disbanded after just the one full length release in 1996 but reformed 14 years later. Their first reunion gig was at Wave Gotik Treffen Fest, in June 2011.

The original title is "Wings of Sorrow" but people got confused since it has "Welcome My Last Chapter" on the cover, so they reprinted the CD with the new title. Only the first press has "Wings of Sorrow" on the CD spines.

Temple of Darkness Records, coinciding with the 15th anniversary, re-issued W.M.L.C. in 24th April 2010 in a deluxe CD edition with clam shell box, poster, sticker and certificate. The re-issue also includes new layout with old photos taken by the band between 1993 -1996 and the bonus track:

In July 2014, Temple of Darkness Records, also released "Welcome My Last Chapter" on Double LP by first time.

Ved Buens Ende "Written In Waters (UK, Misanthropy Records, AMAZON 006)"

Written in Waters is the debut studio album by the Norwegian avant-garde metal band Ved Buens Ende. It is the only album the band released before they disbanded.

William York of AllMusic wrote, "Ved Buens Ende's sole full-length, Written in Waters, is an album of esoteric, experimental black metal that, years after its release, still sounds like nothing else."

The lyrics to tracks 8 and 9, the songs "Remembrance of Things Past" and "To Swarm Deserted Away" are all sung on track 8, while track 9 is not given another name. Despite this, these are listed as tracks 8 and 9 on all versions.

Various Artists "Nativity In Black: A Tribute To Black Sabbath (EU, Columbia Records, 477671 2)"

Nativity in Black is the name of two Black Sabbath tribute albums that came out in the 1990s and 2000s. The albums were recorded with various heavy metal bands paying tribute to Black Sabbath for their influence on the heavy metal genre of rock music.

All of the tracks in Nativity in Black are covers of classic Black Sabbath material from the Ozzy Osbourne era, mostly by heavy metal bands. The name comes from the commonly assumed, but incorrect, meaning of the song title "N.I.B.". Also, the name of the album is a play on words, referring to Black Nativity - traditional Christmas carols sung in gospel style, quite common in the 60's; Black Sabbath's first Nativity in Black tribute album was released a couple of months before Christmas of '94.

The band Bullring Brummies is made up of Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler, Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward, vocalist Rob Halford (not long out of Judas Priest), Obsessed/Vitus guitarist Scott "Wino" Weinrich, Fight guitarist Brian Tilse and Jimmy Wood on harmonica. Their cover of "The Wizard" on the first volume is their only recording, the musicians coming together specifically for this recording. According to Tony Iommi at the time, it was intended to be him / Butler / Ward on the track with Halford, as they had laid down tracks for the song. I.R.S., however, would not permit Iommi to be included so he thought the project was dead. Gloria Butler, however, proceeded with Weinrich and Tilse being brought in to replace Iommi on the track. Upon discovering this, Iommi fired Gloria Butler, prompting Geezer Butler to quit Black Sabbath yet again.

Both albums also include a song with Ozzy singing along with a band.

The live recording of "War Pigs" by Faith No More was previously included on the band's live album, Live at the Brixton Academy.

1000 Homo DJs' version of "Supernaut" was originally released as a 12-inch single in 1990.

The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on 4 December 2000. Bob Chiappardi of Concrete Marketing was executive producer for the album. Megadeth's cover of "Paranoid" received a Grammy nomination in 1995 for 'Best Metal Performance'.

Megadeth's cover of Paranoid is also famous for drummer Nick Menza playing past the end of the song and lead singer Dave Mustaine yelling, "Nick? Nick?! NICK!" and he finally stops. Menza can be faintly heard saying, "Fuck me running!" shortly after.
