Coroner "Death Cult"

Coroner is a Swiss thrash metal band from Zürich. They garnered relatively little attention outside of Europe. Formed in 1983, the band broke up in 1996, but reformed 14 years later.

There was already an earlier incarnation of Coroner formed between 1983-1985 with Marky and Oliver Amberg playing some sort of Mötley Crüe-styled music. According to Oliver Amberg, the band played several gigs and recorded one demo in 1983 with Amberg on vocals, bass and guitar and Marky on drums. This is also mentioned in the "Rewind" documentation, where also the cover of the demo is shown and bandpictures are displayed (plus some music played in the background).

In early 1985 the band split up and was reformed by Marky few months later with a new line-up as a thrash metal band known as Coroner again and with the same logo as the old band.

The band has performed at multiple live venues and festivals around the world since 2011, and plans to release a new album in 2019.

Coroner's music combines elements of thrash, classical music, avant-garde music, progressive rock, jazz, and industrial metal with suitably gruff vocals. With their increasingly complex style of progressive rock-infused thrash, they have been called "the Rush of thrash metal".

Death Cult is their second demo, released 1986 and reissued in 2014.

Released on a label called "Rip Rec".
