"Divided" and "Cain" recorded live at Z7, Pratteln, Switzerland, 6th of Dec. 2010.

"Thunder & Lightning" (track 9) was originally recorded as a LucyFire song; it appears on their last demo, Rest in Peace Dear Lucy (2010). The Tiamat version appearing on The Scarred People has been re-recorded in a heavier rendition.

The meaning of "384" (track 3, often incorrectly written as "384 - Kteis" or "384EKteis" ("Kteis" stands for "vagina", "shell" or "goddess" in Ancient Greek)), has never been explained by the band. According to Johan Edlund, while 666 "it’s a good looking number", he believes "that everything is of equal value, so it’s none a bit more sexy than 384. Or 33. Or 2".

"Before Another Wilbury Dies" (track 6) is a tribute to the Traveling Wilburys, a British-American supergroup consisting of Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty. According to Edlund, "it's an homage to the musicians" he "grew up with. It's a reminder to live life today, before it's too late".
"The Sun Also Rises" (track 5) is a reference to the novel with the same name published in 1926 by Ernest Hemingway.
"Tiznit" (track 10) is a small town in Southern Morocco.

Videos were made for "The Scarred People", "384", "Love Terrorists" and "The Red of the Morning Sun"
