It features twelve Metallica covers arranged and played mostly in the death metal and black metal genres. The album quickly fell into obscurity and today can only be found with effort.

Afflicted "Dawn of Glory"

Afflicted originally formed under the name Afflicted Convulsion. The decision to drop the word "Convulsion" from the band name was taken once vocalist Joakim Bröms had joined.

Afflicted Convulsion was formed out of the ruins of a thrash band called Defiance and released one official rehearsal tape and two demos under this name. Then the name was shortened to Afflicted.

The band defined their sound as "Psychodelic Ultraviolent Heavy Grindcore". However, on the Dawn of Glory album, the band switched to heavy/power metal sound akin to Manowar.

Dawn of Glory was their second full length.

Recorded at Sunlight Studio in fourteen days during Spring 1994.
Co-mixed by Afflicted.

An alternate version of "Tidings from the Blue Sphere" was recorded, but only released on the "Death...Is Just the Beginning II" compilation.
