Various Artists "A Tribute To Judas Priest - Legends Of Metal Vol. 1 (Japan, Victor Entertainment, VICP-5860)"

A Tribute to Judas Priest: Legends of Metal Vol. I is a tribute album, released in 1997 by Century Media Records. It includes several rock and metal bands such as Helloween, Testament, Saxon, Mercyful Fate, and Fates Warning, covering songs by British heavy metal band Judas Priest. Some of the songs included in this album have been previously released by the artists.

U.D.O./Das Musikkorps der Bundeswehr "We Are One [Germany, AFM Records, AFM 743-9]"

We Are One es el decimoséptimo álbum de estudio de la banda alemana de heavy metal U.D.O., publicado en 2020 por AFM Records. Sus canciones fueron grabadas con el apoyo de la Orquesta Sinfónica del Ejército Alemán, por ende en su portada aparece como U.D.O and Das Musikkorps der Bundeswehr.

El disco, que mezcla el heavy metal con el metal sinfónico, contiene material inédito escrito por los miembros de U.D.O. y el director de la orquesta, el teniente coronel Christoph Scheibling. Además participaron en su composición los exintegrantes de Accept Stefan Kaufmann y Peter Baltes, como también los escritores de la orquesta Guido Rennert y Alexander Reuber.

En 2015, U.D.O. publicó el DVD Navy Metal Night que fue grabado con la colaboración de la otrora orquesta del Ejército Alemán: Marinemusikkorps Nordsee. La banda mantuvo las relaciones con la renovada orquesta titulada ahora como Das Musikkorps der Bundeswehr y con la cual dieron algunos conciertos en 2015 y 2018. Uno de los espectáculos dados en 2018 tuvo un gran éxito, sobre él Udo Dirkschneider señaló: «Había un 40 % de los fanáticos del metal y el resto eran fanáticos de la orquesta, e incluso había personas mayores como yo». Desde entonces ambas agrupaciones querían seguir trabajando pero de una manera más intensa, con la idea principal de grabar un álbum colaborativo.

El desarrollo del álbum tardó cerca de un año. Al principio, la banda presentó treinta maquetas a la orquesta quienes juntos eligieron cerca de una docena las que fueron arregladas antes de iniciar el proceso de grabación. Según Dirkschneider, fue durante la grabación en donde se compusieron nuevas canciones y se modificaron los tonos y los tempos. Para la composición, U.D.O. contó con la colaboración del director de la orquesta el teniente coronel Christoph Scheibling, los escritores de la orquesta Guido Rennert y Alexander Reuber, Stefan Kaufmann y de su excompañero en Accept, Peter Baltes. Sobre este último, Dirkschneider contó que esta fue la primera vez que hablaban desde 2005 y que se sumó al equipo luego de enterarse sobre el proyecto. Las letras de las canciones tratan sobre los actuales problemas de la humanidad, como por ejemplo el cambio climático, las dificultades de los refugiados, la contaminación ambiental y las posturas extremas de la política.

U.D.O. "Steelfactory (Japan, Avalon Marquee Inc., MICP-11437)"

Steelfactory is the sixteenth studio album by U.D.O., released on 31 August 2018 by AFM Records. It is the first album to feature Udo Dirkschneider's son Sven as the new drummer. The first single "Rising High" was made available for streaming on 15 June 2018. A music video was made for "One Heart One Soul". A lyric video was made for "Make the Move". Steelfactory is the final album to feature bassist Fitty Wienhold when he announced his departure in September 2018.

Udo Dirkschneider says that the musical direction of Steelfactory is influenced by the touring of when the band performed under the name Dirkschneider from 2015 to 2018, during which at the time they only played Accept songs, "it's definitely an influence and also a feeling if you start songwriting. But I don't have a problem with this. [Laughs]"

U.D.O. started work on the album in March 2017 after performing in North America. The music was composed by all members of the band, as opposed to the albums Steelhammer and Decadent, which was mainly composed by Dirkschneider and bassist Fitty Weinhold. Dirkschneider says that there was not a set goal on what type of sound he wanted to have, "We just start working on a new album and see what's coming up. Sometimes it's a little bit more aggressive; sometimes it's a little bit more melodic; sometimes you put keyboards into that, whatever. This time, I think on the whole album, it's a good mix of songs. We have really fast songs, uptempo songs, mid-tempo songs, ballads, everything." He says that Steelfactory has an influence of Accept.
