Nothing to Gain is the third and most recent full-length studio album by San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal band Vio-lence. The album was recorded in August 1990 but was not released until 1993, and is the last to feature guitarist Robb Flynn (who had left the band to form Machine Head by the time of its release) and bassist Deen Dell. This was also their last work as a band to contain new material for over 28 years, until the release of Let the World Burn in March 2022. Nothing to Gain was re-released in 1997 with a different cover. As of 2023, this is one of the two Vio-lence studio albums (along with Oppressing the Masses) to have never been made available on digital services worldwide.

There were two additional songs recorded during the album's sessions ("All Good Dies" and "Put Them In"), which did not make the final album and which still remain unreleased.

Vio-lence "Oppressing The Mases (Japan, MMG, AMCY-139)"

Oppressing the Masses is the second album by San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal band Vio-lence. It was originally released in July 13, 1990 via Megaforce Records. The original print (20,000) contained the song "Torture Tactics" but all copies were destroyed because of Atlantic Records' objection to the lyrical content. However, that song can be found on the Japanese version of the album. The re-release version contains the tracks from Torture Tactics EP. As of 2023, this is one of the two Vio-lence studio albums (along with Nothing to Gain) to have never been made available on digital services worldwide.

Vio-lence "Eternal Nightmare (Germany, MCA Records, 255 694-2)"

Vio-lence is an American thrash metal band formed in 1985 in the San Francisco Bay Area. Throughout its career, they have released demo tapes, three EPs and three studio albums. Vio-lence is best-known for their association with the 1980s Bay Area thrash metal scene, and often credited as one of the leading lights of the second wave of the genre. They are also considered to be a member of the "Big Six of Bay Area Thrash Metal," alongside Exodus, Testament, Death Angel, Lȧȧz Rockit and Forbidden.

Vio-lence's most stable lineup was Phil Demmel and Robb Flynn on guitars, Deen Dell on bass, Perry Strickland on drums and Sean Killian on vocals; this lineup recorded all three of their studio albums–Eternal Nightmare (1988), Oppressing the Masses (1990) and Nothing to Gain (1993). After breaking up in 1994 and reforming for occasional live performances from 2001 to 2003, the band reunited once again in January 2019, and released the EP Let the World Burn, their first collection of new material in nearly three decades, in March 2022. The current lineup of Vio-lence includes Killian, bassist Christian Olde Wolbers and drummer Nick Souza along with live members Mario Salcedo and Miles Dimitri Baker.

Eternal Nightmare is the debut album by the San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal band Vio-lence. It was released on June 27, 1988 through MCA Records' Mechanic sublabel. A limited 10" promo single was released, with two tracks "Eternal Nightmare" and "Phobophobia"; the release was quite unique, as it came in a "vomit pack", a sealed plastic cover containing fake vomit. Shortly after, thrash metal innovators Slayer released a single in a similar format but with fake blood, and rock band The Revolting Cocks released a single with fake semen.

The 2005 re-release of the album includes a bonus CD of the Thrash of the Titans concert (benefit for Testament singer Chuck Billy), recorded August 11, 2001. As of 2023, other than the EPs Torture Tactics and Let the World Burn, this is the only Vio-lence studio album to have been made available on digital streaming services.

Get Thrashed is a 2006 American documentary directed by Rick Ernst and starring Lars Ulrich, Sully Erna, Frank Bello, Death Angel, Dave Mustaine and many others.

Get Thrashed traces the impact of thrash metal. It is the story of the hardest metal music of the 1980s and 1990s as told by the bands who lived it.

The GET THRASHED journey begins in the early 80s, where Metallica and several other bands laid the groundwork for what would become a lasting impression on the face of heavy metal music. These bands helped ignite local scenes in Los Angeles, the Bay area of California and New York City, which helped fuel a worldwide thrash metal movement. By the dawn of the 1990's, thrash bands had gone from playing backyard barbeque parties to headlining arenas and Metallica were on their way to becoming one of the biggest metal acts of all time. But as legions of headbanging, stage diving and moshing metalheads were flocking to see their favorite bands, the tides had begun to change. In the early 1990's, a changing musical landscape sent thrash spiraling back into the underground. Some of the musicians passed away, some returned to their day jobs and some bands broke up. While the music lived on, the scene was forever changed.
