Ad Infinitum (stylised as AD IИFINITUM) is a Swiss/German symphonic metal band. Originally a solo project of Swiss singer Melissa Bonny, it turned into a full band with arrival of drummer Niklas Müller, bassist Jonas Asplind and guitarist Adrian Theßenvitz. The band signed a deal with Napalm Records in July 2019 and released a debut album, Chapter I: Monarchy, in April 2020. In December 2020, Asplind announced he was leaving the band due to health issues, to be replaced by Korbinian Benedict as the new bassist.

Abyss is the fourth studio album by Swiss/German symphonic metal band Ad Infinitum, released by Napalm Records on 11 October 2024.

The album received largely positive reviews from critics, but was polarising among fans due to its movement away from the style of the band's previous albums. Distorted Sound Magazine commented on this, saying "Abyss needs to be judged as the album it is, rather than the album people thought it should be. And on that basis, it would be tough to feel disappointed".

AC/DC "Rock Or Bust (Lenticular Cover Digipak, Japan, Sony Records, SICP-4350)"

Rock or Bust is the sixteenth studio album by Australian rock band AC/DC, released on 28 November 2014. Rock or Bust is the group's first album to feature rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, replacing founding member Malcolm Young, who had retired from the band earlier in the year due to health concerns. It is the shortest studio album ever released by the band. At approximately 35 minutes, it is two minutes shorter than their previous shortest album, Flick of the Switch, which was released in 1983. It sold 2.8 million copies worldwide.

The group released the debut single from the album, titled "Play Ball", on 7 October 2014. The song has been a commercial success, reaching the top 40 charts in various countries such as Spain (at number 28), France (at number 39) or Switzerland (at number 19). Rock or Bust peaked at number 1 in 12 countries, including Australia, Canada, Germany and Sweden. It reached the top 5 in a further 12 countries, including New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States and Italy. The album earned AC/DC a 2015 ECHO Award for Rock/Alternative (International).

Drummer Phil Rudd was unable to participate in the supporting tour after being sentenced to house arrest, being replaced by Chris Slade. Lead vocalist Brian Johnson was forced to leave the band after the fifth leg of the tour as a result of hearing loss, with Guns N' Roses lead singer Axl Rose taking his place as lead singer in March 2016, completing the remaining dates. Bassist Cliff Williams left the band after the tour, retiring from music. On 30 September 2020, after two years of rumours, AC/DC officially confirmed that Johnson, Rudd, and Williams had rejoined the band and that they have been working on a new studio album, Power Up, which was released on 13 November 2020, confirming that Rock or Bust would not be the final album to include Johnson, Rudd, and Williams.

Released on 28 November 2014 in Australia and New Zealand and 2 December 2014 elsewhere, Rock or Bust marks the band's first album since 2010's Iron Man 2 and first album of original material since 2008's Black Ice.

Rock or Bust is the band's first album without founding member and rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young, who left the band in 2014 for health reasons. Malcolm's departure was later clarified by the band and their management, who stated that he was officially diagnosed with dementia. While Malcolm has writing credits for every track on the album, all of his guitar parts were recorded by his nephew Stevie Young. He died on 18 November 2017, weeks after his older brother George Young.

Before the album was officially announced, Brian Johnson admitted that it was difficult to make the album without Malcolm. He brought about the idea that the album could be called Man Down, but believed the title might be too negative towards Malcolm's situation and overall health.

On 6 November 2014, drummer Phil Rudd was arrested for attempting to procure the murder of two men. AC/DC made a statement the same day: "We've only become aware of Phil's arrest as the news was breaking. We have no further comment. Phil's absence will not affect the release of our new album Rock or Bust and upcoming tour next year." It was not yet clear whether Rudd would remain with the band or not, or who might be his replacement. The attempted procurement charge against Rudd was dropped the following day; charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of cannabis and a charge of threatening to kill remained.

The album was recorded at Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, Canada, with producer Brendan O'Brien and mixer Mike Fraser. When Rudd was ten days late for the recording sessions, O'Brien was ready to replace him with another drummer, but Rudd arrived and recorded his parts.

By Angus Young's reckoning, recording took, "about four weeks. We had all the material – we were well prepared to do the album and that helped a lot. We'd done a lot of the work before going in the studio. Brendan is a very accomplished musician, so that's part of why we work with him. He knows all his instruments."

The songs were constructed largely by Angus Young from material accumulated by the brothers during the recording of previous albums.

On some lead tracks, Angus Young used the Schaffer Replica, a device that emulates the Schaffer-Vega Diversity System. The device was donated to him by AC/DC fan Fil "SoloDallas" Olivieri.

Josh Cheuse of the Arcade Creative Group handled the art direction, and decided to add more features to the physical edition, considering that "If you don’t make something special, there’s no point in even making any packaging at all.” Thus the cover is a lenticular, and the booklet has 24 pictures featuring the band. The agency Curb did a special video to promote the album in a Polish quarry, where a rock exploded to reveal a carved AC/DC logo.

The first single "Play Ball" was first used on 27 September 2014 in a trailer for Major League Baseball on TBS postseason coverage, and the single was released on 7 October, the same day as the track listing and artwork were revealed. It became available on iTunes for those who pre-ordered the album. The second single is "Rock or Bust", the official video for which was filmed in front of 500 fans in London on 4 October 2014. The single was released on 17 November 2014. The song leaked by accident when it was uploaded to the AC/DC YouTube account instead of "Play Ball". Rudd was absent from both video shoots for the singles, and was replaced by Welshman Bob Richards, who had previously played with Man, Adrian Smith, Asia and Shogun.

In 2015, the band embarked on a world tour to promote Rock or Bust and celebrate the band's 40th anniversary. Malcolm was replaced by his and Angus's nephew, Stevie Young. At first, it was not yet clear whether Rudd would participate in the tour. On 6 January 2015, it was announced that AC/DC would be headlining at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, performing on 10 and 17 April 2015. Chris Slade, who played with AC/DC between 1989 and 1994, was announced as the drummer for the tour. Four songs from the LP were played live on the tour: "Rock or Bust", "Play Ball", "Got Some Rock & Roll Thunder", & "Baptism by Fire".

The album received generally favourable and warm reviews; it garnered a score of 75 on the website Metacritic, based on 22 reviews. In particular, the magazine Trucking published a praising review by Andy Stewart in which he wrote, "Short, but definitely sweet, this long-awaited new album from Australia’s biggest band contains a raft of excellent riffs, signature screeching and rock ’n roll boogie-woogie rhythms that are all but impossible not to tap your feet along to." As well, Charles Pitter of Popmatters commented that the album had "a keen focus on catchy choruses and riffs for those who are inclined to practice righteous, gnarly air guitar."

Upon its release, Rock or Bust became the sixth most pre-ordered studio album of 2014 on Amazon UK.

In the US, the album sold 172,000 copies in its first week of release and debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200. As of January 2015, it has sold 500,000 copies in the US leading to a Gold certification by the RIAA, the band's 22nd album to reach such status. In Canada, it debuted at #1 on the Canadian Albums Chart, selling 31,000 copies in its first week of release.

Worldwide, Rock or Bust sold a total of 2.8 million copies in 2014.

In 2015, the album won a Planet Rock award for Best International Album.

Also in 2015, it earned AC/DC Echo Award nominations for Album of the Year and Best Rock/Alternative International Group. It lost the former to Helene Fischer's Colors, but won the latter.

It was nominated at the ARIA Music Awards of 2015 for Best Group, but lost to Tame Impala for Currents.

AC/DC "Fly On The Wall (2003 Reissue, Remastered, Digipak, Enhanced CD, Mexico, Epic Records, EK 80210)"

Fly on the Wall is the tenth studio album by Australian hard rock band AC/DC, released on 1 July 1985 by Albert Productions, and Atlantic Records. The album was re-released in 2003 as part of the AC/DC Remasters series.

Although AC/DC's 1983 album Flick of the Switch was a commercial and critical failure, the band remained one of the biggest hard rock acts in the world. In October 1984, Atlantic Records released to the United States the EP '74 Jailbreak, a collection of studio tracks previously unreleased outside Australia, taken mainly from the band's 1975 Australian debut High Voltage. In January 1985, the band took three weeks off from recording what would become Fly on the Wall to headline two nights at the 10-day Rock in Rio festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, appearing to over 250,000 people on 19 January with Scorpions, Whitesnake, and Ozzy Osbourne.

The sessions for Fly on the Wall took place at Mountain Studios in Montreux, Switzerland from October 1984 to February 1985. Released on 28 June, it was AC/DC's first album since the Australian release of T.N.T. not to include drummer Phil Rudd, who was replaced by Simon Wright (although Wright appeared in music videos for Flick of the Switch tracks), making it the first AC/DC album with all band members born in the UK.

It was the second and last album to be produced by the band members. But in contrast to the preceding Flick of the Switch – produced by the band as a whole – Fly on the Wall was produced by guitarists Angus and Malcolm Young, who hoped to capture the rawness and simplicity of their early work in a time when pop-oriented glam metal had become popular. In a 1985 interview with Sky Channel for the Monsters of Rock show, frontman Brian Johnson explained: "In my experience, the lads went in with a producer, but they were still really telling the lad what they wanted, so in a round-about way all it is an extra pair of ears. An expensive extra pair of ears."

The album was not well received by critics and its one million US sales paled beside those of Back in Black and For Those About to Rock We Salute You. The singles "Shake Your Foundations" and "Sink the Pink" are seen as standouts; both were later included on the band's soundtrack album Who Made Who for Stephen King's film Maximum Overdrive. The song "Danger" fell flat in concert and was banished from the set. Some critics also complained that Johnson's vocals were difficult to decipher, and the band would indeed raise them in the remix for "Shake Your Foundations" on Who Made Who.

In the original Rolling Stone review of the album, Tim Holmes wrote, "You'd never guess how sexist and politically incorrect all this is if you didn't read the lyric sheet, because you sure can't make out a single word coming out of the dentist's-drill glottis of Brian Johnson (except maybe the song titles, which tend to be repeated like mantras). Angus Young is also in great form, playing the dumbest, most irresistibly repetitive chords in the lexicon." According to Steve Huey of AllMusic, "Fly on the Wall continues AC/DC's descent into cookie-cutter mediocrity, with the leering humor of past glories seeming forced and uninspired, and the music remaining somewhat underdeveloped and directionless." In his 1994 Bon Scott biography Highway to Hell, author Clinton Walker calls the album a "disaster". Martin Popoff observed how Fly on the Wall "tries desperately to recapture wasted youth, yet the material for the most part is cookie-cutter AC/DC" and remarked Brian Johnson's awkward vocals "mixed quite far back, possibly because he's sounding raspier and more incoherent than ever". US gossip magazine People picked the LP as the best album of 1985.

Retrospective reviews are also largely negative. Classic Rock explains that Malcolm and Angus Young "made AC/DC sound like a tribute act on a bad night, and as writers all they could muster was one half-decent song, Shake Your Foundations. All told, the album is a disaster." Ultimate Classic Rock agrees with this sentiment, saying that it was when the band started losing relevancy from the hair metal and thrash metal movements, and while the material does "suggest the band was trying a little too hard to fit in, at least they were trying."

The album does, however, have at least one "high-profile" fan: singer/songwriter Ryan Adams, who said "I had an epiphany while I was running and some songs from Fly on the Wall came on. That's a record I could always put on my run mix and I don't have to leave any songs off."

The Fly on the Wall Tour was marred by bad publicity when serial killer Richard Ramirez was arrested. Ramirez, nicknamed the "Night Stalker" by the press, told police that "Night Prowler" from Highway to Hell (1979) had driven him to commit murder. Police also claimed that Ramirez was wearing an AC/DC shirt and left an AC/DC hat at one of the crime scenes. As Murray Engelheart observes in his book AC/DC: Maximum Rock & Roll, "It was just what the band's detractors had been waiting for and the media, especially in America, immediately seized on the case. Wild accusations that AC/DC were, in fact, devil worshippers were bandied about... The lyrics of 'Night Prowler' were carefully analysed and some newspapers attempted to link Ramirez's Satanism with AC/DC's name, somehow arriving at the conclusion that AC/DC actually stood for Anti-Christ, Devil's Child."

The band maintained that the song had been given a murderous connotation by Ramírez, but is actually about a boy sneaking into his girlfriend's bedroom at night while her parents are asleep. In a 2000 interview for the MuchMoreMusic documentary The Story of AC/DC, Angus says wryly, "I can't remember the last black mass I attended."
