Origin "Echoes Of Decimation"

Echoes of Decimation is the third studio album by American technical death metal band Origin. It was released through Relapse Records, on March 15, 2005. A focus point on extremely fast arpeggios was made on this album. The band later called these "RIFFARPS" as they were arpeggios as a form of a riff instead of being used as a solo.

Includes a bonus behind-the-scenes video in Quicktime format.

Recording information:

Recorded and mixed November 2004 at Black Lodge Recording Studio (Eudora, Kansas).

Origin "Informis Infinitas Inhumanitas"

The second album by technical death metal band Origin, Informis Infinitas Inhumanitas introduced a more technical aspect of the band. The album features quotes from Dogma and Interview with the Vampire to introduce two of the tracks. A video was done for the song "Portal" in September 2003 at a liveshow in Topeka, KS, which was also the first show with James King on drums. "Informis Infinitas Inhumanitas" is Latin for "shapeless, boundless inhumanity" as mentioned by Jeremy Turner in an interview with Resound Magazine.

The sample at the start of "Inhuman" is of Alan Rickman from Dogma.

"Mental Torment" is a re-recorded version.

Recording information:

Recorded and engineered at Studio One in Wisconsin.

Mastered at Imperial Mastering.

Origin "Origin"

Origin is the debut studio album by death metal band Origin. The album has a rawer, more straightforward and more brutal sound than their more technical later albums. This album was the first death metal album released on a label to incorporate the use of gravity blasts although their original drummer George Fluke used the gravity blast on their 1998 EP A Coming into Existence. This is the band's only album without bassist Mike Flores, and their only album with bassist Doug Williams and singer Mark Manning.

The intro to "Manimal Instincts" is taken from the movie Legend.

Recorded at Studio One, Racine, Wisconsin.

Nocturnus "The Key"

The Key was the first full-length studio album from Florida progressive death metal band, Nocturnus. It was released on Earache Records in 1990 and was followed by Thresholds two years later.

The album, Nocturnus's debut, is a concept album centered on an occult (the influence of drummer/vocalist Mike Browning) meets sci-fi (influenced by guitarist Mike Davis) theme. The story follows a cyborg who goes back in time to the year 0 B.C. which eventually leads to the destruction of Christianity (highlighted by the controversial track "Destroying the Manger") and the creation of a modern empire.

In addition to their unusual lyrical content, the band employed the use of keyboards which was virtually unheard of at the time in the broader genre of death metal. The keyboards were generally used for song intros and more atmospheric purposes, however, and most of the album was based upon a more conventional guitar and drums approach, with Kam Lee of Massacre providing backing vocals.

Browning has claimed that he has not seen any royalties from either this album or its follow up since he was kicked out of the band, blaming both former band members and Earache Records.
