Narita is the second album by the New York City heavy metal band Riot.
This album was actually released only in Japan and available only as an import in the USA until it was finally released in the states about 5 months later in October, 1979. It became out of print in the late 80's and was only being pressed in CD format in Japan in 1989 until the early 90's. Narita was finally issued on CD outside Japan on June 20, 2005 by UK-based Rock Candy Records, run by former Kerrang! writers Derek Oliver and Dante Bonutto.
"Born to Be Wild" is a cover of the 1968 Steppenwolf classic.
Narita was also the name of a short-lived San Antonio, Texas-based Riot off-shoot featuring guitarist Mark Reale along with former S.A.Slayer members, vocalist Steve Cooper, bassist Don Van Stavern (who would later appear on the Thundersteel and The Privilege of Power albums and is a member of Riot V), and drummer Dave McClain, now with Machine Head. They recorded a 3-song demo in 1985, including an early version of "Thundersteel", before Reale reformed Riot in 1986.
All songs written by Guy Speranza and Mark Reale, except "Waiting for the Taking" by Speranza, Reale, Ventura and "Born to be Wild" by Mars Bonfire.
