Def Leppard "Now (Single & Video)"

"Now" is a 2002 song by British hard rock band Def Leppard from their X album. It peaked at number 23 on the UK Singles Chart.

The music video (directed by The Malloys) focuses on a Def Leppard Union Jack T-shirt that finds its way through different owners for nearly two decades. It starts in the year 1983, when a teenage girl purchases the shirt from a music store. One day, as she is sleeping, her younger brother steals the shirt and rides off with his friend to sneak into a neighbour's backyard and use the swimming pool. They quickly run away when the homeowner spots them, leaving the shirt behind.

In 1985, a man buys the shirt at a garage sale. At a parking lot prior to a Def Leppard concert, he surrenders it to a female fan after she flashes him. When the band's tour bus arrives, the female fan has bassist Rick Savage autograph the shirt. Shortly after the concert, she meets a roadie and makes out with him in the bus, where he takes possession of the shirt.

In 1987, the roadie enters a coin-op laundromat to have the shirt and his laundry cleaned. As he sleeps while waiting for his laundry, a woman steals the shirt and slips it between her laundry in a cart.

The video ends in the year 2002, where a woman (presumably an older version of the teenager from the 1983 scene), buys the shirt from an online auction and then receives it in the mail.

DVD errors
The 2001 DVD release contains errors not present on the original VHS and Laserdisc releases. According to sources close to the band, there are no plans to fix the errors at this time:
  • The video for "Bringin' On the Heartbreak (with Phil Collen)" contains a repeat of the audio from "Bringin' On the Heartbreak (with Pete Willis)" instead of the normal, remixed audio.
  • During "Pour Some Sugar On Me (UK Version)" the audio originally contained demolition sounds such as glass breaking and walls crumbling while the house they were performing in was torn down around them. The audio for the US version also originally contained audio clips of crowds cheering throughout most of the song. All those sounds have been removed from the DVD release.

The songs "Don't Shoot Shotgun", "Let It Go", "Tear It Down" and "Travelin' Band" were performed and recorded but did not make the VHS or DVD. Also, "Armageddon It" and "Pour Some Sugar on Me" were actually performed and recorded twice for their respective music videos but neither of the first performances of those songs on that night were shown on the VHS or DVD. They can be found on a bootleg with the rest of the unmixed soundboard recording and the sound check.

Def Leppard "Two Steps Behind (Single & Video)"

"Two Steps Behind" is a 1993 song by English hard rock band Def Leppard from their album Retro Active and the soundtrack to the film Last Action Hero. It reached #5 on the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, and #12 on the Billboard Hot 100. Though the band did manage to chart a few more songs in the following years, this is generally considered to be the band's last major hit in the US. In the 1993 Metal Edge Readers' Choice Awards, the song was voted "Song of the Year" and "Best Song From a Movie Soundtrack.".

Def Leppard recorded two different versions of the song - an electric version and an acoustic version - the widely released one was the acoustic version which featured on the greatest hits Vault. The widely released acoustic version differs from the original B-side, as it featured the addition of strings by Michael Kamen, for usage on Last Action Hero.

Eduardo Rivadavia, reviewing Retro Active for Allmusic.com, called "Two Steps Behind" along with "Miss You In A Heartbeat" "solid, but hardly groundbreaking ballads" and one of the album picks.

Def Leppard's acoustic version also features on the CMT Crossroads DVD with Taylor Swift as a bonus feature.

Along with the song "Let's Get Rocked" from their 1992 album Adrenalize, this is one of only two songs by the band released after the 1980s that is still regularly performed live on nearly all of the bands' tours.

This song is also dedicated to Steve Clark, who died on January 8, 1991 of alcohol poisoning.

The song was composed and demoed by lead singer Joe Elliott in 1989 during the writing and recording sessions for the band's fifth album Adrenalize. The track was shelved for three years until it resurfaced following a late-night acoustic jamming session with the Hothouse Flowers in March 1992, which yielded three B-side tracks. When Elliott suggested recording "Two Steps Behind", Collen suggested that it be recorded as an acoustic version. The track was recorded in a few hours in April 1992 and was released as the B-side to "Make Love Like a Man" in the UK. Later in 1993, the producers of the film Last Action Hero contacted the band requesting a new song for the film's soundtrack. As the band were on tour at the time, they were unable to record brand new material for the soundtrack. Instead, they sent the producers the multitracks to the acoustic version of "Two Steps Behind". The track was remixed and conductor Michael Kamen added an orchestral string treatment to the song. The inclusion of the song on the film's soundtrack inspired the band to create the compilation album Retro Active from B-sides and unreleased material, and record new parts to the electric version of the song on 7–11 June.

The music video was directed by Wayne Isham, the approximate shoot date was 10 July 1993. This video shows the band playing in car park, Joe Elliott singing on the street while all the people around go backwards and live footage at a concert. The live footage was shot on Irvine Meadows, CA, USA. The video was aired on August 1993.

Def Leppard "Desert Song (Promo CD & Video)"

"Desert Song" is a song by English hard rock band Def Leppard from their 1993 rarities and 'B-sides' album Retro Active. This song was an outtake from the songwriting sessions that produced 1987's Hysteria. Self-produced, it became one of the last songs to be released by Def Leppard bearing the songwriting and guitar-playing of Steve Clark, who died on 8 January 1991. It was a hit on U.S. rock radio, reaching number twelve on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. It was recorded as an instrumental for their album Hysteria (1987) but left off the album and was largely forgotten until the band decided to commit the song for Retro Active. On a day off during their 7 Day Weekend Tour, Elliott composed lyrics whilst listening to the track. Elliott assembled the band and remains the only Def Leppard song to feature both Clark's guitar playing and Clark's successor Vivian Campbell on background vocals, although Campbell's contributions are uncredited in the Retro Active liner notes.

Lyrically the song is about Mick Ronson who was dying of cancer at the time. It told the story of a man facing death alone.
