Kiss "Tears Are Falling (Single & Video)"

"Tears Are Falling" is a song by the American hard rock band Kiss. It was the lead single from the group's 1985 studio album Asylum.

The track was written and sung by vocalist/guitarist Paul Stanley. It is one of Kiss' few songs since the 1970s to have been solely created by him. It would also be Stanley's last individual composition until "Loving You Without You Now" on his 2006 solo album Live to Win.

"Tears Are Falling" was also later featured on Kiss' 1988 compilation, Smashes, Thrashes & Hits as well as the 2014 compilation Kiss 40, while a live recording was included on the 2016 live album Kiss Rocks Vegas.

A video to promote the single was filmed in London in September 1985, and was directed by David Mallet. It was one of three videos produced in promotion of the 'Asylum' album, along with 'Uh! All Night' and 'Who Wants to Be Lonely'. Despite the low production values of the 'Tears Are Falling' video, it was heavily played on MTV's Dial MTV phone video-request show for several months, until a new ruling stated that the requested videos had to be only a few weeks old to qualify.

The video was uploaded to the official Kiss Vevo YouTube channel in December 2009 and has amassed over eight million views as of February 2019.

After the single's release, the group performed the song live on all of its non-makeup tours, commencing with the 1985 Asylum Tour. However, like almost all Kiss tunes from that period in the ensemble's career, the single was shelved when the band members returned to wearing makeup in 1996. The group later played the song again for a few performances during its 2004 Rock the Nation Tour, their 2014 Las Vegas residency and their final tour. This would make "Tears Are Falling" one of Kiss' few 'non-makeup era' songs to have been played by band members in any capacity while wearing makeup.

The song enjoyed minor success when it was released as a single in the United States and United Kingdom. It peaked at number 20 on Billboard's Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks and 51 on the Billboard Hot 100, meanwhile peaking at 57 in the UK Singles Chart.
