Mötley Crüe "Decade of Decadence 81-91"

Decade of Decadence is a greatest hits compilation album by the American heavy metal band Mötley Crüe, released on October 1, 1991. It peaked at number 2 on the US Billboard 200 chart. It was the band's sixth album overall and the first of many greatest hits compilations.

Though it was intended to be the band's first compilation album, the content was unlike a standard compilation release. As well as six of the band's greatest hits, it featured three remixes ("Live Wire (Kick Ass '91 Remix)", "Piece of Your Action (Screamin' '91 Remix)" and "Home Sweet Home '91 Remix"), a soundtrack contribution ("Rock 'n' Roll Junkie"), a compilation album track "Teaser" (previously released on the Stairway to Heaven/Highway to Hell album), a previously unreleased live track ("Kickstart My Heart (Live in Dallas, Texas)") and three newly recorded songs "Primal Scream", "Angela" and "Anarchy in the U.K.".

The album debuted at No. 2 in the US albums chart, just under Garth Brooks Ropin' The Wind, and was certified double platinum by the RIAA.

Music videos were made for the three singles to promote the album. "Primal Scream", "Home Sweet Home '91", and "Anarchy in the U.K." which was largely shot on the bands Monsters of Rock tour in Europe. "Angela" was released as a promo single.

The remix version of "Home Sweet Home" was the band's 8th and final Top 40 hit in 1991, reaching No. 37 on the Billboard Hot 100. The original 1985 version had only reached No. 89 on the same chart.

"Rock n' Roll Junkie" had been featured in the Andrew Dice Clay movie, The Adventures of Ford Fairlane, which featured a cameo by Vince Neil.

The songs, "Smokin' in the Boys Room", "Teaser" and "Anarchy in the U.K." are all cover songs, originally recorded by Brownsville Station, Tommy Bolin, and Sex Pistols respectively. During an MTV interview in 1991, Tommy Lee stated that Vince Neil recorded his vocals for "Anarchy in the U.K." in one take. Neil has stated that John Lydon called him saying the cover was brilliant.

The album is now out of print, having been replaced by Greatest Hits in 1998 and by a reissue in 2009. The latter compilation featured a different track order, including previously unreleased material. The songs, "Teaser", "Rock 'n' Roll Junkie", "Primal Scream", "Angela", and "Anarchy in the U.K." were reissued on the Supersonic and Demonic Relics compilation in 1999, and the remixes of "Live Wire", "Piece of Your Action", "Home Sweet Home" and the live version of "Kickstart My Heart" were reissued on the Music to Crash Your Car to: Vol. 2 box set.

Mötley Crüe "Too Fast For Love"

Too Fast for Love is the debut studio album by American heavy metal band Mötley Crüe. The first edition of 900 copies was released on November 10, 1981, on the band's original label Leathür Records. Elektra Records signed the band the following year, at which point the album was remixed and partially re-recorded. This re-release, with a different track listing and slightly different artwork (e.g., red lettering on the cover and a different interior photograph of the band), has become the standard version from which all later reissues derive. The re-recorded album also removed the song "Stick to Your Guns", though it is featured on a bonus track version of the album. The original mix of the album remained unreleased on CD until 2002, when it was included in the Music to Crash Your Car to: Vol. 1 box set compilation.

While the album only reached number 77 on the Billboard 200 album chart in the United States, it would ultimately reach platinum status.

The songs "Stick to Your Guns" and "Live Wire" were released as singles for the album.

The first recording session was in October 1981, a half year after the band first played the Starwood nightclub. They recorded for a few days with engineer Avi Kipper at Hit City West, a small studio in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles.

There are three known vinyl pressings of the Leathür Records version, along with one known cassette. The first vinyl pressing had white lettering on the cover and the record label was white with black lettering. The back cover photo of Vince Neil shows him with a large airbrushed hairdo. The second pressing has red lettering on the cover and the record label is again white with black lettering. The second pressing has a slightly different photo insert of the band. The third pressing has red lettering on the cover and the record label is black with white lettering.

The album was remixed under the supervision of Roy Thomas Baker and rereleased on August 20, 1982, by Elektra Records, with whom the band signed its first recording contract. The Elektra version had a different track order and omitted "Stick to Your Guns", as well as the first verse from the title track. However, the initial release of the album on Elektra in Canada (on both vinyl and cassette) was not the remixed version, but instead the original Leathür version with an Elektra label on it, and it included "Stick to Your Guns".[citation needed] This was released two months before the remixed version was released by Elektra worldwide, because Mötley was about to embark on a Canadian tour and Elektra wanted to ensure a product was available while the band was in the country. When the remixed version was completed, later Canadian pressings were the same as the Elektra version everywhere else. "It was amazing because everyone had passed on us first time around…" Neil observed in 2000. "We were just happy that someone was prepared to mass-produce our records and that we could go out on real tours."

In 1996, Mötley and Elektra split. The band once again formed their own record company, Mötley Records, and rereleased all the albums before New Tattoo. The 2002 version of Too Fast for Love adds the Leathür version of "Too Fast for Love", "Stick To Your Guns" (omitted from the Elektra release), "Toast of the Town" (previously released as a b-side to Leathür's "Stick to Your Guns" single), the cover song "Tonight" and a live version of "Merry-Go-Round".

"The head of A&R at Elektra, Kenny Batiste was furious that I had gone over his head and gotten permission from Joe Smith to sign the band. So he did everything he could to make my life difficult. We were originally just going to re-release the 'Too Fast for Love' album they had put out on their own, but Batiste convinced the label that the quality wasn't up to radio standards and the only way to put it out would be to remix it."
