Svartsot "Ravnenes Saga (Limited Edition Digipak, Germany, Napalm Records, NPR 221)"

Svartsot is a Danish folk metal band formed in 2005 in Randers.

In August 2004 the folk/black metal band "Skoll" was formed in Randers. A change of direction occurred in early 2005 as the songwriting began leaning towards a more pure folk metal style, so it was decided to rename the band to "Svartsot". Svartsot means "black sickness" in older Danish, a type of jaundice that causes a person's skin to turn black.

Ravnenes Saga is the debut album from the Danish folk/Viking metal band Svartsot.

In English, the album title means "Saga of the Ravens", suggesting Odin's two ravens, Hugin and Munin (Thought and Memory). These two ravens would fly out over the world each day to return every evening and tell what they had seen.
